Environment

Environmental protection and energy efficiency mean a lot to us. This is reflected in a number of large and small measures undertaken in day-to-day business.

Since 2013, our solar roof has supplied us with approx. one third of our annual electricity requirement. When the sun is shining at its strongest, our 150 KW peak system even delivers 100% of our peak power demand. That is our contribution towards reducing CO2 emissions.

In 2014, we replaced our compressed air system, integrating among other things a frequency-controlled compressor to cut energy consumption. We also recycle waste heat and use it to heat our premises.

In the new building constructed in 2017 for our milling department, a heat pump was installed to heat the facility, ensuring an optimal indoor climate with low energy consumption.

Since 2018, an additional photovoltaic system with a capacity of 50 kWp has been in operation on the roof of the new building.

Environmental protection is important to us not only in terms of direct in-house measures, but also through our active participation in holistically oriented networks. For example, we were a member of the PlaMoWa network, a collaboration between industry and research dedicated to developing methods and services for assessing the level of plastic pollution in bodies of water.

As part of a ZIM network project, we collaborated with other industrial partners and leading research institutions to develop a filter cascade for the reproducible filtration of microplastic particles from a wide variety of water samples.
